If you’re a regular user of Google Chrome browser, you may noticed that it will open the PDF files/documents automatically inside browser when you click the PDF file links. But according to me downloading the PDF files will give much faster viewing experience than viewing it in browser. Also sometimes Chrome browser becomes unresponsive while opening the big size PDF files. Now you have a question of how to prevent Chrome browser from opening PDF files automatically?

Here we have a solution to that. Google enabled “Chrome PDF Viewer” plugin by default. But it has an option to disable it. Once you disable it, henceforth Chrome will download the PDF files instead of opening it automatically in browser. Lets see how to do the same.

How To Steps:

1. Open Google Chrome Browser and in the address bar type

chrome://plugins

and hit enter.

2. It will open the Chrome Plugins page, now scroll to “Chrome PDF Viewer” and Click “Disable” Link.

3. Now Restart your chrome browser. Henceforth Chrome will download the PDF files instead of opening it automatically in browser.

That’s it.
