Asus ROG Strix SCAR II GL504GV Review

Asus ROG Strix SCAR II is one of the gaming laptops which is packed with a high-end GPU, processor and good specs for the price range. I have got a chance to test it and here is my review on the same.

The first and foremost attraction of the Asus ROG Strix SCAR II GL504GV is the form-factor. The laptop is thin for the hardware it is packed with and all I can say is well-built. The overall design is good and the Asus team has to be well appreciated for the design factor. When comes to the weight, the laptop is 2.4 kg which might be heavier but considering the hardware built in, the weight is acceptable.

Dimensions: Width: 36.1cm, Depth: 26.2cm, Height: 2.61cm

The laptop comes with a 15.6-inch Non-glare Full HD display, with a 144Hz refresh rate, 3ms latency and 100% sRGB. We have a stunning look on the top (which is the back-plate of the display) and it looks great with a glowing (RGB) ROG logo. The keyboard is a full-size one with a complete number pad, we have the hotkeys for Volume up/ Volume down / Microphone mute / ROG Armoury Crate. The keyboard has backlit. The webcam is located at the bottom bezel which is on the bottom right to the screen.

When comes to the laptop review, in spite of the specs and features, everyone will be looking for the overall performance of the laptop at the end and it makes the final decision. So, Asus ROG Strix SCAR II GL504GV doesn’t disappoint you on the overall performance. On my testing, the overall performance of the laptop is pretty good.

The display looks stunner and I personally played few games like PUBG, Asphalt Xtreme, Far Cry 5 and the display is really worthy. Apart from the display, the graphics performance also well managed and no complaints on the same. I would say this is the laptop with perfect performance in its price range.

The benchmark scores are also impressive. I have tested a few benchmarks and everywhere the laptop has scored more than 5500 points. The laptop can easily capable of handling almost all the heavy/popular games without any lags or complaint to say.

Well, the placement of the webcam is a little weird and it might be not comfortable for everyone, because we always used to have the webcam at the top centre.

The ROG Strix SCAR II comes with a pretty big trackpad. The trackpad has a dedicated left and right click keys on the bottom and the trackpad also supports left and right clicks with the usual one-finger/two-finger tap.

So, we are really impressed with the performance, gaming, trackpad, screen, etc., How the battery life of this heavy gaming laptop? The laptop comes with a 66Whr battery. In my testing, the laptop battery managed to get around 4 to 5 hours on normal usage. If you do heavy gaming, then the battery will last up to 1.5 to 2 hours only. Asus had to concentrate on battery life. But, I would say, for this heavy gaming laptop, the battery will be hard to hold its backup.

Final Verdict:

If you are gamer and looking for a gaming laptop, then I would suggest ROG Strix SCAR II on this price range which holds the latest GPU and latest specs.
