Few months back on Jan 2016, Asus India has launched its smartphone Zenfone Max with Snapdragon 410 processor, 2 GB RAM, 5.5-inch display, 5000 mAh battery and with a 13 Megapixel primary camera. We reviewed the earlier version of Zenfone Max and you can check it here. After the launch, the phone had a huge response from the consumers due its price and features, but it lacks in some aspects when compared to the mobiles with the same price range in the market. Within few months from the launch, Asus came with all the upgraded variant called Asus Zenfone Max 2016 and this time with killer specifications. Two new variants are announced by Asus with upgraded specifications.
I have also posted about the new variant on the launch day on this blog. I have been using this device as my primary smartphone since the launch day[23rd May] and after 7 days of hard usage, I’m writing this review.
The launch of new Asus Zenfone Max 2016 device was live telecasted at 12:30 PM IST on 23-May-2016. To make the event more different, Asus team sent the demo units of the new Zenfone Max to the bloggers and journalists in a number locked box few days before the launch. Its a like a mystery box and they have mentioned to watch the live launch on 23rd May to unlock the box and discover the new device. It’s quiet different for the phone launch and I liked the new strategy followed by the team. Before the launch itself, the phone got good hype, as all the bloggers and journalists had posted about the mystery box from ASUS in their social media. Finally during the live launch event, the secret box code has been revealed and we came to know about the device. #LiveUnplugged is the hashtag mentioned by ASUS team for this event.
To prove the device battery power, ASUS has sent the device in ON condition. The device was powered ON when it is out from its India factory. To the surprise, the device was in ON state, when I opened the box after the launch. Its nearly 15 to 20 days, the device is in stand-by mode, which really adds value to the phone.
