Google provides a very good feature called 2-Step Verification for your account, which adds extra security to your account. Even though you have a complex password, the 2-Step Verification will generate an instant password and it will be sent to your registered mobile number or you can also get instant passwords from android app. Whenever your mail account is accessed from any PC around the world, you will receive the instant code to your mobile and once you enter the code, then only you will signed in to your account. You can also came to know, when someone is trying to sign-n to your account.
Why to enable 2-Step Verification?
You can have question in your mind like why i need to enable 2-Step Verification, because already i have complex password.
Recently an russian hacker forum community has published 5 million Gmail account password, but google denied this. To make sure that your account was not hacked, you can enable 2-Step Verification which adds extra security to your account.

How To Setup 2-Step Verification for your Gmail account :
1. Open Google Security URL in your browser and sign-in with your Gmail account. Now you will be taken to the security page as below.
2. Under Password tab, you can see “2-Step Verification” and by default it will be disabled. Click on “Setup” link placed near to 2-Step Verification.
4. Now you need to complete 4 steps to activate 2-Step Verification.
a. Mobile Phone Number : You need to enter the mobile number where you want to send the instant verification codes and you can also choose the way of delivery either via SMS or voice call and click on “Send Code” .
c. Verification codes on this computer : You can make your home computer as a “Trusted computer”, so that you no need to enter 2 step verification when you access your account from that computer. It will be helpful incase you missed your phone accidentally. Click on “Trust this computer” and click “Next”.
You can now customize the primary number, way to get codes, app-specific passwords and registered computers. You can also add one phone backup number, so that -incase the primary number was not available, you can get the codes to your backup number.
