Intex has launched its dual selfie camera phone in a budget segment series during December 2017. Intex is one of the major players in the entry-level mobile phone segment and budget consumer electronics in India. Intex is more popular in country’s offline market than the online market. The company has a majority customer base in non-metro cities. Intex is already offering many budget smartphones in its ELYT series. In addition to that, the company has launched its dual selfie camera smartphone Intex ELYT Dual at Rs.6999.
I have been using the device for almost a month and here is the detailed review of the Intex ELYT Dual smartphone.
Design, Display and Package:
The smartphone comes with a 5-inch display and with a plastic body. The mobile is compact and easy to fit in the hands. To a surprise, a smartphone that comes with a removable back cover and user replaceable battery after a long time. Inside the back cover, we have the dual SIM slots and a dedicated SD card slot.
One the front, it has a 5-inch display, off-screen navigation keys which are not backlit, dual selfie cameras [8 MP + 2MP] with a flashlight, sensors, earpiece. On the right side, the volume rockers and the power button is placed. Bottom, we have the 3.5 mm audio jack, charging port, microphone. Backside we have the rear camera with flash, Intex branding, speakers.
In terms of design, it looks very compact and solid for the price segment.
As said above, the smartphone comes with 5-inch IPS LCD HD [720×1280 pixels] display with 2.5D curved edges. The display is good, suitable for most lighting conditions and has good viewing angles. The sensor is slow to detect the ambient light and adjust the brightness automatically.
The box package comes with Intex ELYT Dual smartphone with battery, transparent back case, screen guard, earphone, Charging adaptor, USB cable, user guide, etc.,

Hardware, Software and Performance:
Intex ELYT Dual is a budget smartphone and has the basic hardware specifications. The smartphone is powered by 1.3 GHz quad-core processor & 32-bit Quad Core Spreadtrum 9850 chipset. It comes with a 2 GB RAM and 16 GB of internal storage. You can also extend the storage up to 128 GB with its dedicated microSD card slot available.
The smartphone runs on basic Android 7.0 UI with no skin on top. The UI is smooth and able to handle the apps. The mobile comes with few apps pre-installed and you can uninstall/disable them if not needed.
The hardware handles the stock UI and necessary applications include all social media apps like facebook, twitter, etc., I also recommend you to disable/uninstall the apps which are not in use, to free up memory and internal space for better performance. The phone also handles the basic games smoothly, but it is not able to handle high-end games smoothly.
The mobile is powered by a 2400 mAh removable battery. The battery can hold up to a day with normal usage. Also, smaller display and basic hardware can boost the battery to stay for some time.
In short, the mobile is built at a budget segment which handles the basic day-to-day tasks and comes with a dual selfie camera with flash.
The dual selfie camera is the main attraction of the Intex ELYT Dual smartphone. On the front, it has a dual camera setup [8 MP + 2 MP] along with flash and it also offers a bokeh effect. The bokeh effect meets the expectation for this price range. Also, the company offers a feature to change the background for the picture you shoot, with a built-in feature. The camera is good for the price range and it captures well at the good lighting conditions. In low light, the performance of the camera is low even with flashlights.
The rear camera is 8 MP and it also comes with flash. Again, the camera captures the pictures well in bright lighting and low performance in the low lighting conditions.
Overall the Intex Elyt Dual smartphone has a good camera performance for this price segment.
In this price range of Rs.6999, there are many smartphones available in the market like the Redmi 5A, Redmi 4, Redmi Y1 lite, 10.or D, etc., But still, these smartphones are not offering the dual camera setup. But on the performance wise, the competitors were level up when compared to this smartphone. The Intex Elyt Dual is a basic entry level smartphone with dual camera setup and it would fit for any user whose needs are not demanding heavy performance.
