LeEco formerly known as Letv has stepped into Indian smartphone market nearly 4 to 5 months ago. LeEco’s first launch, Le 1s was a huge success in India. Followed by the smartphone, they have started launching their accessories and Le Ecosystem in India. On 8th Jun 2016, LeEco held a huge event in Delhi under the hashtag #2Future, where they have announced their second generations smartphones Le 2, Le Max 2, Le Ecosystem, LeMall website for India and more. I have already posted about the announcements made during the event. The event has a huge response from their super fans with more than 500K registrations for the first flash sale of both Le 2 and Le Max 2. The first flash sale is going to happen on 28th Jun 2016.
I have been using the LeEco Le 2 device for a while now and here is my detailed review about the phone.
LeEco Le 2 review:
Le 2 [Le X526] is the upgraded version of their Le 1s smartphone, this time, they have upgraded the processor and camera.
The Le 2 comes with a gorgeous metal finish design. There is no drastically different in the look when compared to its previous version, but still, Le 2 has a premium metal finish which adds value to the phone. On the top, we have IR blaster which can be used to control your home appliances like TV, AC, etc., and the phone doesn’t have the usual 3.5 mm on the top as it was replaced with CDLA technology. On the right side of the phone, we have volume buttons and power button. Dual Nano SIM slot is available on the left side. Bottom we have speaker grill and USB type-c port which is used to charge the device, connect OTG accessories and also to connect CDLA headphones.
We have 3 navigation keys with backlit, but they light up only when you touch. The Le 2 comes with a 5.5-inch display with 8 MP front camera and notification light. The fingerprint sensor, noise canceling mic, dual tone LED flash and 16 MP rear camera placed at the back side. The dimension of the phone is 15.11 × 7.42 × 0.75 cm (5.95 x 2.92 x 0.3 in). The overall design and look of the phone are premium and light-weight with metal finish.
Le 2 comes with 5.5 inches full HD screen with 1920 x 1080 pixels. The screen has better viewing angles and adaptive brightness feature. Le 2 has better sunlight readability. The ambient light sensor adjusts the brightness faster, based on the ambient light. The display has Corning Gorilla Glass 3 Protection.
As many of them noticed, I also felt some hollow sound on display when the screen is pressed hardly in the middle. But I don’t find any issues due to this. But the phone is very lighter, need to handle it with care. The touch is very responsive and the display has elegant text and sharper images with more details.
Color and Weight:
Le 2 comes in 3 different colors. Gold, Silver and Grey. The weight of the phone is 153 grams which very light and easy to hold for hours.
Hardware and Performance:
As I said in the beginning of this post, this time, LeEco has concentrated highly on the processor and camera of the Indian version. Le 2 comes with a Qualcomm Snapdragon 652, 1.8 GHz Octa-core 64-bit processor. The phone is bundled with 3 GB DDR3 RAM and 32 GB ROM. With 3 GB of RAM, the phone handles many apps, multi-tasking and heavy games without any lag. The phone gets little warm, when playing the high graphics games for a while, but again it is normal for a metal finish phone. Apart from that, I don’t see any increase in temperature while charging. Overall, Le 2 is a good performer.
Sadly, the phone doesn’t support microSD card. From the 32 GB internal storage, the user has 23.29 GB available to use during the first boot.
The Antutu Benchmark score of the device is around 82K.
Software, UI and Navigation:
Le 2 runs on EUI 5.6 based Android MarshMallow 6.0.1 operating system. EUI has few additional features when compared to its earlier version. The control center functionality is quite interesting and it gives access to quick settings, running apps and clear memory all in a single screen. The UI is optimized to enjoy streaming services. The Live app icon is placed at the center which allows you to watch live TV. You can watch all regional channels as well. If you swipe from left to right on the main screen, then it will show the curated video contents from various categories. The navigation is easy and fast.
Another major upgraded in this phone is the camera. Le 2 comes with 16 MP rear camera with dual tone LED flash. The front facing camera is 8 MP. The camera allows you to shoot 4K/1080p/720/slo-motion videos. You can record 4K videos at 30 fps and slow motion recording resolution of 720p at 120 fps. The simple camera UI allow you to switch between slow motion, photo, video, and panorama modes easily. You can change the ISO, exposure and other settings from the app. Few scene modes are preloaded to make the photos better. The overall picture and video quality are fine. 16 MP and 8 MP is one of the notable features in this price range.

Continual Digital Lossless Audio. With Le 2 say goodbye to the old 3.5 mm audio jack. Le 2 has no 3.5 mm audio jack which is replaced with the company’s latest CDLA technology. You can hear the audio with CDLA headsets which can be inserted in the type-c port. As CDLA headphones are not widely reached the audience, the company has provided Type-C to 3.5 mm audio jack connector with the phone. You can use your old headphones to hear the music. CDLA technology has impressive sound quality. You can get the full quality in type-c headsets. Type-C headsets are available in LeMall India site.
The phone is bundled with 3000 mAh battery. The phone supports fast charging. With Qualcomm Quick Charge 2.0/Le SuperCharge technology the phone gets 50% charge in 30 minutes and go to full charge in approximately 90 to 100 mins. It has USB type-C port to charge the device. The phone comes with fast charging adaptor and USB type-C removable charging cable.
SIM and Connectivity:
Le 2 is a Dual SIM Dual Standby phone and both SIM supports 4G LTE. As confirmed by the company, VoLTE supports will be soon rolling to all the Le 2 devices through an OTA update. Both SIM supports 4G data, but you can use any one SIM with 4G at a time and other will be in GSM mode. Apart from this, it has 2.4G/5G dual-band WiFi, Bluetooth version 4.1 and it supports Wi-Fi Display, Wi-Fi direct, AP Hotspot.
Fingerprint Sensor in Le 2 comes with the company’s own patented LeTouch technology. It allows 360-degree touch for phone unlocking and the recognition is fast.
This phone has a built-in IR blaster at the top and you can control the devices through your mobile phone, with the preloaded Remote control app. Almost all brand devices are controlled through this app. I’m able to control my Sansui TV and Whirlpool AC with my Le 2 smartphone.
Inside the Le 2 box, we have the phone with non-removable battery, protective cover, power adapter, USB Type-C Cable, Type-C to 3.5 mm audio jack connector, User Manual/Quick Start Guide and SIM ejector tool.
Price and Availability:
3 GB RAM

For the price of Rs.11999, you can get this phone with the upgraded camera, processor, fingerprint sensor and CDLA technology. As a launch offer, the company is providing free CDLA headsets worth Rs.1990 for a limited period. The phone also comes with one year LeEco Membership worth Rs. 4,900. Le 2 is one of the best picks in this price range.
Note: The above review is my personal opinion about the phone.
