WhatsApp is rolling out a much awaited, interesting feature to its users. Yes, Live Location Sharing [Share Live Location] Feature is now rolling out on WhatsApp. Live Location Sharing feature was announced sometime back by Google in its Google Maps application, then it was announced on Facebook Messenger, Snapchat and last week Telegram also has officially rolled out the feature.

Finally, it’s now time for WhatsApp to roll out this feature to its users. Already its been late when compared to other platforms. But We have expected the feature will be available soon after the feature made available on Facebook Messenger because WhatsApp is owned by Facebook. Anyway, WhatsApp has officially confirmed on its blog about the new Live Location Sharing feature rolling out to its users. Both Android and iPhone users will receive the update in coming weeks.

Today, we’re rolling out a new feature that allows you to share your location in real-time with family or friends. Whether you’re meeting up with friends, letting loved ones know you’re safe, or sharing your commute, Live Location is a simple and secure way to let people know where you are. This end-to-end encrypted feature lets you control who you share with and for how long. You can choose to stop sharing at any time or let the Live Location timer simply expire.

As per WhatsApp, the new feature will be available under Location Option in the existing attach button. There you will be able to see a new option called Share Live Location. You can choose how long you want to share the live location with your friends and tap on send. Your friend or the group members can able to see the real-time location on a map as shown in the above screenshot. If more than one person shares their Live Location in a group, then all persons live locations will be visible on the same map.
