The wait is over, Xiaomi has announced its next generation Mi Band 2 in China. Mi Band 2 was rumored with LED display and was expected to launch a few days back, but due to some manufacturing issues, the launch was delayed. A few weeks back it was announced that Mi Band 2 will be available from June 7th in China. Before the sale, Xiaomi has announced the device and its specifications with the price.
The new Mi Band 2 comes with a Scratch-resistant OLED display to see your progress and more at a glance. The device is 40.3mm length, a width of 15.7mm, and a side width of 10.5mm. It will show time, step count, heart rate with a wrist lift or a button tap. The basic functionality remains same as the previous version. It has Fitness, heart rate, and sleep tracker. I Power-efficient ADI accelerometer and optical heart rate sensors are added. This model comes with an Upgraded pedometer algorithm.
The device packs a 70 mAh battery. Even though it comes with an OLED display, the company claims that the device can stand up to 20 days on a single charge. The device is IP67 certified which makes the device water, dust, and sweat resistant. The Mi Band 2 also supports Bluetooth 4.0 (2nd gen) for faster and more stable connections with a smartphone. Customized nudge alerts are added to keep you moving if you are sitting for long. Mi Band 2 unlocks your phone instantly.
As per Mi, the device weighs just 7 grams. The new band is available in Black, Blue, Green, and Orange colors. It will be compatible with devices running Android 4.4 and above as well as iOS 7.0 and above.
The Mi Band 2 is priced at 149 Yuan, which is Rs.1,500 approximately. As confirmed by CEO Jun Lei, the device goes on sale from 7th June in China.
