Tecno i5 Pro mobile was launched in India a few months back. It’s a new mobile brand just entered the Indian market a few months back with its smartphones like Tecno i3, Tecno i3 Pro, Tecno i5, Tecno i5 Pro, and Tecno i7. Tecno i5 Pro features a 5.5-inch display, 13 MP rear camera, 8 MP front camera, 4000 mAh battery, Rocket Charging, etc., The mobile is priced at Rs.12000 in India.

We have got a chance to review the Tecno i5 Pro mobile and I have used it for almost 15 days before writing this review.

Design, Package:

In terms of design, the curved edges add to the overall aesthetics of the device. The phone is packed with 5.5 inch HD IPS display with 2.5D curved Glass. We have the earpiece, 8 MP selfie Camera with flash, sensors, notification light on the top. We have the SIM card/microSD card slot on the left. On the right side, we have volume rockers and power button. Micro USB port and Speaker grill are placed at the bottom whereas the 3.5 mm audio jack is placed on the top. At the back side, we have 13 MP rear camera with flash on the top left corner and Tecno branding.

We have 3 physical capacitive buttons below the screen with one pressable home button. The fingerprint is placed on the Home button. But, unfortunately, the navigation buttons are not backlit capable.

The smartphone is packed in a compact box, which comes with Tecno i5 Pro smartphone itself, SIM ejector tool, transparent good quality case for the smartphone, Charging adaptor, removable USB cable, earphone, warranty card.

Usage and Performance:

I have used this device for nearly 15 days and the overall performance of the phone is decent. The VoLTE support is available out of the box and I have tested with Jio SIM card, the calls were going through without any issues.

One of the major advantages of the device is its battery. The phone has non-removable 4000 mAh battery which supports rocket charging. This ensures that the device will be charged in a short period of time and the battery backup is decent enough on the daily usage. The Tecno i5 Pro is powered by a 1.44 GHz quad-core MediaTek 6737T processor. It comes with 3GB RAM and the RAM management is satisfactory, but still needs an improvement. The fingerprint is capable of Anti-oil prints so that unlocking the phone is easy.

In terms of storage, we have 32 GB internal storage in which around 24 GB was available for the users. You can expand the storage up to 128 GB using the dedicated microSD card, which is one of the needed specification. Also, the device supports OTG, where you can connect the pen drive to access the files instantly.

The phone runs on HiOS 2.0 the company’s own operating system with Android Nougat 7.0 out of the box. Even though it has the optimized own operating system, the preloaded apps were very less and which makes sense by unnecessarily installing the unwanted apps on the smartphone.

Final Verdict:

The phone features decent specifications overall. The battery backup, fingerprint sensor, VoLTE, OTG Support works well on this smartphone. But still, the company needs improvements in Camera, HiOS, Processor when compare to the competitors in the current market. The price of the phone needs to reduced slightly in order to make a good tough to the competitors because the phone comes with MediaTek processor and priced high when compared to the smartphones with a snapdragon processor.
