Jio is the leading telecom network in India with highest numbers subscribers in a short period of time. Jio is the first network in India to introduce free Voice calls when you pay for only data. Jio has made a revolution in the telecom industry with lower rates and offers.
In terms of data and calls, I’m highly satisfied with the Jio network. But in terms of SMS? Am I fully satisfied? There are some unnoticed flaws are also available within this network.
Yes. I’m not fully satisfied with SMS feature of Jio network. Because you can’t send SMS to special numbers and international numbers from Jio for now. You can’t even send SMS to 139 from your Jio number.
The numbers like 5676712 or 139 are special numbers and it will be charged when you send SMS from your number. For now, Jio plans have zero balance maintenance, hence the SMS to these numbers are not able to send.
I have personally checked with customer care and they have confirmed that for now, all the Jio customers can send SMS only to 10 digit mobile numbers only within India. You can’t send SMS to any of the special numbers or international numbers. But there was no mention officially about the same, clearly stating that you can’t send SMS to special numbers. Also, they said – Our technical team is working on the feature and we will notify once the same is introduced to customers.
I have asked, how to maintain balance in Jio to get these SMS sent? The customer care employee said, there is no such option yet.
If you are planning to switch your primary number to Jio, just keep in mind of these things because, still many banks, Loan, and other services required to send SMS to special numbers from your mobile number for verification.
